Ugly Duckling Soaps are made with a proprietary blend of Palm Kernel Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Soybean Oil. Selected rich, moisturizing oils are then added to our soaps to form a mild bar which will rinse clean leaving your skin smooth and baby soft.
Please take a moment to read about the unique qualities of each of our soaps. We take great pride in creating unique soaps to suit every taste and skin type! While we do not claim that any of our soaps will have a physiological effect on the user, we've included some of the known qualities of our favorite oils for your reading pleasure.
New! Gingerale: Made with Castor Oil, along with ginger fragrance oil and clove essential oil. I created this soap one day while I was dong some research and development on new recipes. I just threw the scent together on a whim, and my Director of Creativity said that it smelled like gingerale - sure enough, it smells almost exactly like gingerale. The Castor Oil creates an extremely rich, thick lather - pure joy.
Pure Castile: This is our only soap made with 100% olive oil. According to some authorities, Castile soap originated in the Kingdom of Castile, where it was made from olive oil only. We have continued this tradition in our Pure Castile soap. There are no added fragrances or colors, just pure olive oil. This soap is great for people who want a simple, clean, wonderfully moisturizing soap.
Cinnamon Chocolate: Made with saponified vegetable oils, cocoa butter, cinnamon and powdered Bentonite clay. The cinnamon is great for your skin, it promotes healing and is an anti-inflammatory. The cocoa butter is obtained from the cocoa bean in the cacao tree. The ultimate natural moisturizer, cocoa butter melts at body temperature and is readily absorbed into the skin. Cocoa butter contains polyplenols, which inhibit production of irritating immuno-globulins. Cocoa mass polyplenols also relieve stress by boosting the immune system. We recommend this soap as a shaving soap. It provides absolutely the most wonderful feeling shave or your money back! This soap is refreshingly scented with Anise and Grapefruit Essential Oils.
Calendula Citrus aka Citrus & Castor: Made with saponified vegetable oils, Vitamin E oil and organic calendula oil. The herb calendula has been used for centuries to enhance skin tone and restore natural beauty to your skin. My calendula flowers are once again in bloom. I have been cutting and drying calendula blossoms every day for soaps and oils. In the spring, I made this soap with Castor Oil when I ran out of calendula oil. Castor oil is the only oil known to contain ricinoleic acid. This oil has renowned healing properties to the skin and was once known as "Palma Christi" ("The Hand of Christ"). I was so happy with this soap that I decided to keep the Castor Oil in the Calendula Citrus soap. This fantastic soap combines the wonderful properties of both Castor and Calendula oil, along with dried calendula petals and Litsea Cubeba, Lemon and Orange essential oils.
Honey Oatmeal: Made with saponified vegetable oils, goat milk, Pure Wildflower Colorado Honey, apricot kernel oil and ground oatmeal. This soap has a delightful honey scent. The goat milk adds richness, along with gobs of creamy lather. This soap is a customer and personal favorite! This soap will be offered as Honey Oatmeal and as Honey Calendula (with Calendula oil and dried Calendula petals) in the summer of 2008.
Lavender Blossom: Made with saponified vegetable oils, shea butter, ground organic lavender (grown in our own garden), sea salt and a blend of Lavender, Peppermint and Tea Tree Essential Oils. Lavender has been used for centuries for washing, scenting homes and for its healing qualities. The name is derived from the Latin "to wash" (lavare). The shea butter is made from nuts of the Kerite Tree. The Kerite Tree grows wild in Africa; it is never cultivated. Shea butter heals burns, sores, scars, fights dermatitis, promotes cell renewal and increases circulation.
Lemon Eucalyptus Scrub: Made with saponified vegetable oils, shea butter, Lemon and Eucalyptus Essential Oils and natural ground pumice. Our second most popular soap, it is recommended for shower exfoliating and scrubbing hands clean after a hard day's work. This soap consists of two layers: one soap and pumice layer, the other pure soap. Use the soap layer for general mild cleansing; use the pumice layer for scrubbing feet, hands, elbows, anywhere that needs a little bit extra!
Lemon Rosemary: Made with saponified vegetable oils, apricot kernel oil and rosemary essential oils, along with lemon fragrance. Apricot kernel oil is not readily absorbed into the skin. Our testers have found that soaps with apricot kernel oil leave their skin feeling very smooth and silky. Men, especially, love the woodsy, mountain scent.
Love Bug: Made with saponified vegetable oils, avocado oil, "Endless Love" fragrance oil and natural pink and lavender pigments. This is a very sweet, lightly perfumed soap created by our director of creativity, Miss Alison Harford.
Sweet Baby Girl: Made with saponified vegetable oils, apricot kernel oil, natural pink coloring, jasmine fragrance oil and clove and lemon essential oil. I've included dried rose petals in this latest batch; my organic climbing rose is extraordinarily prolific this year! This is a great soap for the bath; it will make both you and the entire bathroom sweetly fragrant. I've blended the jasmine scent with lemon and clove to give a slightly spicy tang to the sweetness of the jasmine. This is one of my personal favorites!
Peppermint Goatsmilk: Made with saponified vegetable oils, goat milk, cocoa butter and peppermint essential oil. The goat milk serves as a wonderful moisturizer and skin softener. This is our second cocoa butter soap. The peppermint essential oil masks the slight chocolate scent of the cocoa butter, making this a great soap for people who want the benefits of cocoa butter in a refreshing peppermint bar. Our testers love this soap in the kitchen. It releases a wonderful peppermint aroma every time you wash your hands; the extra moisturizing abilities of this soap will protect your hands from dying out during frequent handwashing.
Avocado Mountain: Made with saponified vegetable oils, avocado oil, light fragrance and color. Avocado oil is a fantastic moisturizer and creates a thick, rich lather. Sterolins from avocado oil are known to reduce wrinkles, age spots, scars and heal sun damage. Avocado oil is also thought to increase collagen in the skin, benefiting elasticity.
Sandalwood Vanilla: Made with saponified vegetable oils, castor oil and Sandalwood and Vanilla fragrance oils. Guys love this soap. Testers have said that it smells like almonds and vanilla. The castor oil is renowned for healing properties. A natural product within the oil called ricinoleic acid is a rare compound that has anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-yeast and anti-mold properties. The castor oil also increases circulation to the skin. In antiquity castor oil was called "Palma Christi", the hand of Christ, as a consequence of its unique attributes.
Warm Ginger Spice: Made with saponified vegetable oils, cocoa butter, castor oil, ground coffee, locally produced goats milk and a spicy blend of fragrance. The cocoa butter and castor oil combination makes this a very popular soap for moisturizing and skin care, while the gound coffee contributes to getle scrubbing. The goats milk gives a very silky, creamy feel.
Coconut Flax: Made with saponified vegetable oils, avocado oil, flax seed, Coconut and Myrrh fragrance oils. This soap is a staff favorite! The avocado oil lends a rich, creamy lather. The woodsy, citrus scent of Myrrh tempers the Coconut fragrance, giving it depth and a slight honeyed sweetness. The flax seed adds interest and a very slight exfoliating feel. Coconut fragrance oil makes a naturally dark colored soap.
